Where are you seeing this Larry? I watched a weather channel guy this morning in lake Charles walking down a boardwalk and showing how the boards were loose in spots and some of the nails had popped up on some and were creating a walking hazard. I thought hell, the boards are all still in place, if this is all they can find to show for surge damage, it must not have been bad at all.

Update time. As far as we can tell, every home in our area is structurally sound. Mainly minor roof damages and broken windows. Lots of metal carports were destroyed. Power lines down or poles leaning to the north and west bad. Trees down everywhere. We spent the morning with chainsaws and my tractor clearing the highway so people could get to their home. I lost a shed and had some roof damage but we are good to go. About another hour and it will be patched for now. Now for the people to the south and west of here didn’t fare to well from what I’m hearing. Y’all please keep all this people in yalls prayers please.

Great news Marsh. So happy that you and your neighbors are in good shape and made it through with minimal damage. Be very careful with the clean-up phase. Lot of hurricane related injuries and deaths occur not from the storm, wind or water but long after it has passed. Downed power lines, cutting trees stacked on top of each other etc, can all be recipes for disaster. Once again, so glad y'all made it through in good shape.

Our priest is from Creole, LA and his family still lives there. He said that they were all OK, but all of their houses are total losses. They lost everything in Hurricane Rita and again in this one

Good to hear Marsh. It was a rough nite here in Lafayette. We are very fortunate, our power came back on around 8 am. My street and the one next to us are the only ones. Several big trees across the road and crushed the the power lines and poles. Just finished up cleaning the limbs out of my yard and the lady’s across the street. Still haven’t gotten any word on our camp on the coast. Last I heard was surge was at 11’ at 4:00am. I’m sure we will have mud and cane over everything thing.
