Preface this post with " I do not take anything away from the storm being ugly" and I grew up in Mobile and dealing with these storms. That said, I get that the storm is bad, but why the advertisement of 150-200mph winds and now they are standing outside and saying the gusts are 128mph. I guess being more safe than sorry is great, but if the dude is standing there and talking into a camera at 128mph then I can't imagine it's quite as bad as they say. I do hate to see what the real damage is come tomorrow. I also just saw that there are several folks walking around in the casino that one of the WX channel reporters is sheltering in. I have a brother and other family in the middle of this so do not misunderstand what I'm saying please. Just can't stand the show they put on I guess. It's serious, but they make a freaking show of it.
Prayers for all and please holler out if you need help after the storm. there was no ADVERTISEMENT of the winds.. all this info was confirmed by NOAA and USAF recon planes.. when it made landfall there is a 99% chance that Cameron LA saw the 150mph winds. also no clue where the 200 mph winds you speak of came from. the highest gust so far has measured has been in the 180ish mph range and that was roughly 10,000 feet or higher, never once do i recall any weather ppl saying anything about them at surface level. it was also noted by the NHC also forecast the wind speeds to decrease dramatically when landfall was made so there is a great chance that when the eye got to Lake Charles then the winds had died down

Knew I couldn't say all that without whiplash. Anyway, I know for certain the capabilities of the 130 Hurricane Hunters. I don't doubt what they report. I was referring to the reports of the WX channel. Yes the WX channel has advertised the hurricane at 150 mph. For several hours as a matter of fact. Once they "announced" land fall the winds where only 100 mph or so according to the weather channel folks. That is what I was pointing out..
Don't blame me for your bad decision-

If I was off then I am sorry for sure.I'm not taking away from the seriousness. Just some of the WX channel drama that they create was entertaining in the early stages.

Pretty good breeze out right now. From what I can see there won’t be many branches left on my buddy’s trees. I want to go outside but I have quite a bit of wind resistance and I’m afraid it might take me away. We are still having 70-80mph gusts. The sustained winds seem to be slowing down some. Still a long time till daylight. I’m getting anxious to check on my place. I’m praying it’s still there.

Marsh, my buddies parents live in Creole. How you think their place faired? Probably not there anymore. They caught the full force of the surge and the winds. I hate it for them.

I'm afraid daybreak is going to reveal an historic disaster for Louisiana.
I hate making a good first impression. There’s no way I can keep that shit up.
