Preface this post with " I do not take anything away from the storm being ugly" and I grew up in Mobile and dealing with these storms. That said, I get that the storm is bad, but why the advertisement of 150-200mph winds and now they are standing outside and saying the gusts are 128mph. I guess being more safe than sorry is great, but if the dude is standing there and talking into a camera at 128mph then I can't imagine it's quite as bad as they say. I do hate to see what the real damage is come tomorrow. I also just saw that there are several folks walking around in the casino that one of the WX channel reporters is sheltering in. I have a brother and other family in the middle of this so do not misunderstand what I'm saying please. Just can't stand the show they put on I guess. It's serious, but they make a freaking show of it.
Prayers for all and please holler out if you need help after the storm. there was no ADVERTISEMENT of the winds.. all this info was confirmed by NOAA and USAF recon planes.. when it made landfall there is a 99% chance that Cameron LA saw the 150mph winds. also no clue where the 200 mph winds you speak of came from. the highest gust so far has measured has been in the 180ish mph range and that was roughly 10,000 feet or higher, never once do i recall any weather ppl saying anything about them at surface level. it was also noted by the NHC also forecast the wind speeds to decrease dramatically when landfall was made so there is a great chance that when the eye got to Lake Charles then the winds had died down Had a gust little while ago nearing 140 in Lake Charles. Eye gonna go right over deridder soon.....
