I have often wondered why if the police have guns drawn on you and ask to see your hands why you would not immediately stop or even attempt to reach for anything no matter what it is. I dont even take my hands off the steering wheel when I get pulled over because there is a gun in every compartment of my truck and the first thing they ask about is weapons. I tell them where my paper work is and that a pistol is laying with it ask them to open the door so i can step out and they can reach in to get it No need to wonder. The reason is that you are smart, with good intentions and they are dumb with often times bad intentions. Obey the requests of the LEOs and do what you are told and stuff like this doesnt happen. Like others have said, if you have a disagreement with the cops, get a lawyer and settle it that way. Cops are on edge because so many have been assaulted and killed. I'd be the same way, and quick on the draw, if I felt the situation was escalating. No way I'd be a cop in today's society.

RH CLark why don't you go ride with some police one night if it's so easy? See how many tickets they write. How about the North or West precinct of Birmingham? The guy did get shot because he didn't comply and probably reached for a gun inside the car but we don't know as I just jumped to a conclusion just like you. Speeding through neighborhoods is dangerous to kids, joggers and bicyclists. Don't like the way Police treat you, get a lawyer. Live to see another day. You pretty much don't know what I think without being able to sit down to a more in depth conversation than we can have with a few one liners on this talk forum. One thing I am very concerned about is the us against them mentality of just about everyone these days. The prevalent attitude is ,if you have a different thought than I do,you're stupid and I don't want to listen to your ideas. If I say defund the cops,that doesn't have to mean I'm for lawlessness and chaos. It might mean that if things were redirected less money could do more good. Take for instance the example if not issuing traffic tickets any more. You can generate the same revenue with camera's and mailed tickets without the confrontational dangers. There will always be a need for enforcers to handle the extreme violators,but isn't the FBI sort of doing that anyway? I mean honestly,is the answer to our lawlessness problems,even more armed enforcers on the street? It's getting more and more common to see citizens shot just for running away. Then we hear," Well he shouldn't have ran, he might have killed somebody trying to get away like that." and that's the justification in average Joe's mindset. What I'm saying is I don't like the trend of how we are thinking.Part of it comes from frustration of not having a good answer,but we will never get those answers if we have closed minds to any alternatives.

Please tell me you were kidding Yea,mostly kidding but I am getting very tired of seeing these kinds of things. Think a minuet about what defunding would mean though. Most of the issues we are seeing now have happened because of the militarization of police. Your average cop is no longer Andy and Barney who you say hello to on the street. Just look at how many will say the black guy was shot because he didn't comply. WTH! When did we start thinking disobedience is justification for murder? Seriously,how many will just write it off and say he should have done what he was told and he wouldn't have got shot? Is that the society we want to live in? A police force has to be strong to enforce the rules. The harder the rules are to enforce the stronger the force must be. Do you want to live in a totalitarian society where you get terminated for breaking the rules? The stronger the police force the closer you will get to China, where you will be shot if you leave your house when told to stay inside,or fail to wear your mask when allowed out. What is the function of police,and what should their real function be? I think that's a serious question to be asked. What I see our locals doing is about 90% of their time is spent sitting in a car trying to write a speeding ticket. Most of their other time is spent writing reports about the bad stuff they didn't stop while they were writing speeding tickets. You are obviously clueless about what Law Enforcement does and doesn't do!

Billy club to the knee woulda ended it quick...... oh wait, that’s right the courts took Billy Clubs away because they weren’t “fair” to criminals. Paw Paw Troy woulda hit ‘em in the face with the butt of a 12ga pump, non-lethal poetry in motion! I don't understand why 3 full grown men cannot just tackle or taze one uncooperative man, or yes - crack him in the head or legs with a billy club to subdue the man. They followed him like a bunch of sissies afraid to tackle or touch the ghetto trouble maker. Police need to be trained to use their night sticks first, tazer second and to shoot people only in the leg - if they are unarmed. And yes, it looked like he was going to get a weapon out of his car - but he should have been tackled or head/leg cracked before that, imo.
