I guess you guys are just full of talk. Steve Ditchkoff asked for help with the study and only $125 was promised out of over 700 views.

Are you guys just talkers or is Steve really a good guy and you want to help.

I can hear you blow hards now, "oh, Steve, you are the greatest....." "you want Money???"....... "I got to go!!"

Quit runnin your mouth off and kick in for the research.

Sixty views of this post and no one's told you to jump in the lake yet, either.

Might be a record.

In the past 30 minutes, there have been 2 people who pledged $25 each. We're now up to $700...thanks for the support.

Once again, the link to support the project is HERE

They are still holding back. I want to see some of the "biologist know everything" bunch donate.

I think if you don't get donations from them guys, you aught not tell em anything else. Cut em off, Steve. Cross your legs, or fingers I guess would more right.

I bet Outhouse, Fred, and Bill and some of that bunch ain't even thought about sending money...........

Steve,

Did any of the $30,000 that came from license sales from the DCNR go to this project?

Quote:
8 CHAIRMAN MOULTRIE: Very good. Allan, thank you.
9 The game animal research proposal.
10 Mr. Moody?
11 MR. MOODY: Yes, sir. This is the one that we
12 discussed briefly at the last meeting and
13 you -- all of you had a copy of this. And I
14 can give you another copy if you don't have
15 it with you.
16 But, basically, it's an opportunity
17 that we have to do game animal research --
18 well, to allow -- to work with Auburn to do
19 game animal research. We've not had funding
20 for many years to do a lot of game animal
21 work. We've had funding for non-game
22 species and listed species, but not
23 specifically game animals.
Page 50
1 And the money would come from the
2 Heritage License sales. And if y'all will
3 recall, when the Heritage License was
4 developed, it was said that the first
5 $500,000 would go specifically for
6 research. The research had to be approved
7 by the board. So right now there's just
8 slightly more than $50,000 in that account.
9 It's not building up real fast.
10 CHAIRMAN MOULTRIE: After the first 500, where
11 does that go?
12 MR. MOODY: To the Game and Fish fund. It stays
13 in the fund, but it's -- the first 500 --
14 CHAIRMAN MOULTRIE: Only the first 500 goes to
15 research?
16 MR. MOODY: Right, that's correct. But we're
17 going to be a long time getting to that
18 500,000.
19 So what we would propose -- what we
20 have proposed to do is take $30,000 of that
21 money that's there and use it specifically
22 for game animal research with Auburn.
23 Auburn has agreed to match that. And then
1 we will, in addition to the 30 that they're
2 going to be putting in, work with Auburn to
3 find additional matching funds to try to
4 extend that even further. So, you know,
5 it's just a good opportunity to get some
6 good game animal research going.
7 CHAIRMAN MOULTRIE: That would be great. Now,
8 with all the things with Wildlife and
9 Freshwater Fisheries, I think that's the end
10 of it. We could have a motion to go ahead
11 and pass all those issues.
12 Corky, any other issues y'all have
13 besides that?
14 MR. PUGH: No, sir.
15 CHAIRMAN MOULTRIE: Okay. All the board -- Any
16 other questions? Can I get a motion from
17 somebody on the board for that?
18 MR. RAYMOND JONES: So moved.
19 MR. HARTZOG: Second.

That $30,000 will likely be going to another research project.

Alan, I don't know why you included me in this. I don't and never have claimed to know anything about managing a deer herd. My stance has always been do what you like on your own land as long as its legal. I can only guess your bored and firing random shots to see if you hit something.

Thanks to AlDeer.com, and everyone who has made a contribution. We are grateful. If this project is funded, we will be sure and keep this group up to date on the progress of the project.

I'm not opposed to the research, but I'm not in favor of it, either. I really don't need a biology degree to tell me:
1) New born animals, in the wild, will sometimes die.
2) Coyotes are sometimes responsible for those deaths.
3) Lots of other things are also responsible for those deaths, not to exclude the trauma of being abducted by a gang of grad students.
4) Coyotes will gladly make a meal of an animal carcass, regardless of how it died.
5) Urban sprawl is threatening our wildlife far worse than any predator.
6) Fawn mortality is irrelevant, coyotes eat turkey eggs and that's plenty good enough reason to eradicate every last one of them.

My opinions and comments are my own. They do not reflect the position or political opinions of Aldeer or any of the Aldeer administration.

Actually...there have been several studies that show that handling of newborn fawns does not negatively impact survival of those fawns if it is done in the proper manner.
