I would meet with him and voice your concerns.

I would meet with him and voice your concerns. I guess that’s what the Wednesday night meeting is for since he cancelled services to have the meeting.

I’m not certain a 20 year old is a Millenial. I think that’s Gen Z. Also I’m not certain how someone that young could be in charge of a church. He needs to show he can be in charge of himself for awhile before being given a church. Like all the time, a Degree doesn't make you smart or in this case a leader. A leader is simply someone who is able to influence the behavior of others. I'd be very leery of him being able to do that with a church comprised mostly of older people. Perhaps the Methodist leadership thought that he might be able to add energy and younger people to the congregation?
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

I've never known of anyone under the age of 25 that would be equipped to Pastor a church. Just the counseling aspect would be really awkward. He hasn't been out in the world or church enough. Smaller churches tend to have one or two strong personalities, too, that require a strong leader.

I’ve never seen a scripture that flat-out forbade women as ministers. I’ve only read a letter that Paul wrote to a church saying that HE didn’t permit it. maybe somebody can correct me. Everything in the Bible is GOD's word. Everything the Prophets and Apostles wrote is GOD breathed and dictated straight from the lips of the Almighty. The New Testament is crystal clear: only a married MAN can be the pastor/priest/bishop - and ditto the deacons. Anyone who contradicts this is apostate. The Jezebel spirit will mislead and destroy a church faster then anything. I’ve never seen a scripture that flat-out forbade women as ministers. I’ve only read a letter that Paul wrote to a church saying that HE didn’t permit it. maybe somebody can correct me. 1 Timothy 2:12...They are not allowed to teach men, as well. We either believe the Bible or we don't. I'm not trying to sound harsh at all. In my time in church leadership, I'd say over 80% of the problems I've seen in churches have been because of the women. Now wait a minute guys....we can’t cherry pick which part of the Bible to follow... Galatians 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. Not that I’m in favor of women pastors/preachers...just pointing out one can use scripture to argue both sides

I would pray about it really hard and if the Lord would allow it, I would be finding another church. I would not leave unless the Lord would allow it. You need to be happy in and with the place you are worshiping the Lord.

Back up a couple of verses where it talks about faith and baptism.

You need to be happy in and with the place you are worshiping the Lord. serious question, is there anything in scripture indicating that you're not supposed to go from one congregation to another, or anything else suggesting God must allow you to move from one to another? I've heard similar statements before, and I don't get it. Seems to me the point of being involved with a specific congregation is finding one that helps you grow spiritually and where you can fellowship with other Christians. If your current church isn't meeting those needs, is there anything, scripturally speaking, to keep you from just not going back and finding another church?

Gomer I just know whats between me and God. I know where im supposed to be on sunday mornings. My church is my home. That being said, I visit alot of churches, not all of which are even the same denomination as the church I belong to. Getting to your question, I studied it a little bit and it seems to me 2000yrs ago when a person joined the church, it was "The Church", not any church in particular. Getting baptized was a symbol of dying to your old self and being raised up a new creature. Nowadays baptism is the door to a particular church alot of times. Things have changed over the past couple milliniums. I pray about everything in my life. I dont go buy a new truck or lawnmower without praying first, I pray about business deals. I would never change churches without praying and seeking instruction from God. You might say I dont trust myself with my life. I just believe God could do a much better job running it than I could.

Church membership is a serious covenant relationship. The church is not simply a preaching station to hear a good sermon and "receive a blessing". It's not about us, it's about Christ. It's the ideal place for discipling and being discipled. I would seriously follow Matthew 18 for handling church conflict. It sounds like it may already be in the process of being followed.

There is no reason to cancel Church. Period. If God is truly in charge, then God is truly in charge.
I understand prudence, but where is faith in all of this?
There are true Christians who meet for Church, when there is a real possibility that they will be killed or imprisoned for doing so.

Did you pray about this before putting it on the internet?

I would be wary of this Pastor. It appears his faith is on the smallish side. I am fairly certain Covid is not the end all be all.

Our Methodist preacher is closing in on 80 years old and he don't rotate anywhere but he does pastor 2 local churches. His family and mine have been friends for at least 4 generations. The church that I occasionally attend was founded by his GGrandaddy. I'd be glad to ask him what he thinks about the new preacher and see if he has any inside info.
