The kids have been riding the Ranger a good bit lately around the neighborhood and it seems something has happened to it's acceleration. When you give it gas it barely moves and doesn't want to pull. But when you increase in speed up to flooring it, it goes absolutely nowhere. This happens in all three modes as well. Is the belt bad? Could the clutch/clutches be bad? Trying to see if it's something I can do myself or have to take it to a shop to get fixed. I've read multiple things online but none seem to directly help me with my issue. It's a 2016 900XP for reference.

Belt or axels .. Orileys has the gates belts for about 60
Bucks and it’s a easy install

If they are putting around the neighborhood in high then the belt is bad
Make sure they are in low. Messing around in high gear will kill a belt quick.

What Swamper said. Belt is bad and will have to be replaced. Use only low gear for 1-25mph travel. Only use high range for >25mph travel.

Get a hunter works belt. Gates and others don’t compare. Yes, low gear around the neighborhood. I would also see if there’s any water in the belt housing. Could be from rain, washing it or even being parked by a sprinkler and not realizing it.

Best trick I found for changing a belt on this 900’s, just stick your foot in there and step down on the belt. That’ll open the sheaves up and you can take the belt off with ease.

It doesn't have oversized tires but it does have a 2 inch lift kit. Could that cause this issue? I just thought about the lift kit I put on it last year.

Jk. 😀 But it's damn good belt, especially if you have oversized tires.... James is right it could be water in the belt housing. A hose came off my Gator last hunting season letting water inside the housing and it would barely move until all the water drained out. It didn’t last long though so I’m thinking your problem is a bad belt. I changed one on a Mule I had and the worst part was getting the seal to stay on place while putting it back together.
