I sure enjoyed reading his stories and met him a couple of times. He was quite a character. RIP Bowriter.

I knew John for about 25 years. He lived quite an interesting life, and in the last 10ish years got through some hard personal times to a much better place. I'll miss him.

Dadgum! I’m saddened to hear that. What a great guy he seemed to be, whether at events or just speaking with him shooting the breeze the few times I was able to.

Met him several times over the years with my son. He always took time to make us feel special when we were around him and always remembered us when he saw us again. John was a rodeo man in his early days and lived life to its fullest. Heck of a hunter and an even better writer. If you ever heard him tell the story of the Bigfoot throwing boulders at them one night, you would believe Bigfoot is real. He told you like it was right from the start and I respect him for that. Going to miss him and the stories he told of growing up.

Till we meet again,
B

I've known John close to three decades. Ditto what Clem said. He will be missed.

The big foot throwing stones is what I remember the most. I used to get on Tenn deer a lot just to read his stuff. He was a good one and will be missed.
