Anybody in the Mobile area found a place with good prices on these. Tractor supply has them for $14.99, pretty steep.

There is a 12# and a 20# block. I just paid $22 at the local feed store for a 20 pounder. I think it was $15 for the 12# block.
It may just be the going price these days.

I think it's worth it. Every other block I have tried fell apart in short order or immediately after being exposed to rain. The 20# block last me just about all growing season out in the open.

I've had really good luck getting them off the ground by drilling a hole in it and then setting it on a piece of rebar wired to a t post drive in the ground. Lasted for a real long time that way and hogs couldn't get at them. Someone on here shared that tip with me a few years ago.

I throw mine in the trough feeder. Lasts way longer. I made a couple of troughs (but no overhead cover) specifically for the TR's to get them off the ground. A puddle will melt them fast! Rain not so much.

Any way you use them, trophy rocks are around a while. Even after they are gone, the deer eat the dirt where you put them.

If you have a Greers supermarket close by check them. The one in Bay Minette has had the 12lb ones for $10 for the past year. Only a few in stock when i stopped by the other day though.

I have read somewhere that trophy rocks come from Redmonds Salt mine. Has anyone heard this? I have picked up their brand of crushed bagged salt in south GA for only about 12.00 per 50 LB bag and it looks about the same light pink color. Their brand is not sold in many places in the south.

Seems like a salt mine (Redman perhaps, don't know) in Utah was the origin to me also. I researched it some years ago but can't swear to it on memory only.

I tried it and I have video of mature bucks staring those TR's on a T-post down and avoiding them. I'm sure they'd get used to them after a while. But don't expect a mature buck's blessing for a while. Nonetheless, it's a great idea... if the deer ever gets used to the setup. Let me say that from my perspective... the deer LOVE TR's!! I have gotten a lot of bucks on camera all summer long on TR's! They'll show up with their buddies almost like clockwork.

I might could buy a pallet or 2 like I did back in the day if there was enough interest. I was able to sell 40lb rocks for $10 apiece back then but that will never happen again.

cheaper to pay the baiting fee and use salt and minerals mixed
