My step-daughter Sydney became my daughter today. After a couple years of trying, we finally convinced her dad (in name only) to terminate his rights and allow me to adopt her. I have been with her mother since she was three and I have never thought of her as anything but my daughter anyway. Never cared for the term step-dad.

Bob, that's a wonderful thing. I did the same thing back in 1987 right down to the forgiveness of child support in exchange for termination of parental rights and we haven't regretted it for one moment on any front. I gained 2 sons and a daughter that day. I'm going trout fishing again tomorrow with my SON. He's now grown with 2 awesome girls of his own and is a wonderful father. I'm convinced that if he had grown up with the influence of his biological father things would be much different, and not in a good way. Similar story goes with my daughter. You keep on keeping on just as you have so far and raise that precious girl to be an awesome young lady. Congrats to your whole family.
