A buddy and I went to find some birds for opening weekend and walked up on two young bulls in the road. We watched them for a few minutes before they went up the hillside. We crested the next hill and found a herd of 12. These were all wild Tennessee elk, no collars or tags. It was one of the coolest sights I’ve ever seen. Pics were taken on an iPhone, so my apologies for the bad resolution.

That's awesome. I wonder why they still have their antlers? I'd dang sure be going back to look for sheds in that area. Oh and you might not want to go piddling for turkeys on the GSMNP. smile

Yeah I’ll be back to that area. It’s actually on a local WMA. It’s a grassy road/field that follows the mountain for a mile or so. I wonder if I can take the horns if I find them. Probably not.

I know certain states have a shed season, no clue on Tennessee.

That's cool. I'd take that over finding a thunder chicken any day.
