I dont want to go into detail but at our hunting land a bordering neighbor is becoming a pain in the A. question is we have a large patch of bamboo growing up the road if we were to cut growing stalks down and bury them would it grow or would we need to dig up roots? plan is to cut a trailer load scrape the topsoil off lay bamboo stalks then cover with soil leaving some branches sticking up.

I've always dug roots and all to transplant.
I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

we were thinking it might grow like sweetgum as long as its in contact with the soil getting the roots wouldnt be a problem with front end loader just trying to go about it easiest way possible

You can dig the individual stalks but the best/easiest way is to dig up the rhizomes/roots. You’ll need about 1’ for each stalk you want to sprout this year. Once the grove gets Established three rhizomes will run and you’ll get lots of stalks. They will begin to sprout around the first of May.
They will need lots of water to get going. (That shouldn’t be an issue)
When you go to dig them; take a pointed shovel and an axe. The rhizomes are extremely hard. You’ll be glad you took the axe.

I dug up an individual plant and started from there but what BGH said is probably better and requires less attention. Mine is sending up sprouts now. It sent up a few the first year after planting and appears to be tripling that in it's second year. I'm glad it's out in an open area so I can control from all sides after seeing how quickly it has expanded. Something to think about.

It's not hard to control. All you have to do is cut the new sprouts each May once you reach the size grove you want.

Question - Do you own the land? I'd look for a non-invasive alternative. Dealing with privet, kudzu and now Cogongrass is a constant expense and PITA.
