I know this is a touchy subject and I will get 100’s of different opinions, but hopefully can get some insight.
What is the best option for a 3/4 ton crew cab 4x4 truck? I will be looking for an older model $15-20k, if it is diesel it will be pre-DEF crap.
This will be a weekend driver that pulls a 40hp tractor and implements, 20’ CC boat, crew sxs, and a 31’ travel trailer.
I do not need top of the line, work truck is fine. I am leaning towards a GM 2500 with a 6.0 to avoid any diesel expenses/repairs. This will get driven 10-15k miles a year

I would get exactly what you listed and I probably will soon. For me I don't care as much about milage, but I'm looking for one that wasn't used to pull heavy loads and not a daily in town driver.

RAM / Cummins makes the best..do some research on the 6.0, has one of the worst reputations ever. get an 07 RAM 3500, I know it is a 1 ton but the price isn't gonna be that much different and it buys you a LOT more payload

There's a 99' 3/4 ton dodge diesel 4x4 for sale across the river from you in Gateswood. Cummins engine. Runs good. $8,500.

this is also VERY good recommendation, the problem with finding one of these (at least for me) was finding one with decent mileage, like below 100k. PLUS if you're not paying cash...the bank is not gonna finance these for the price they bring. a good 7.3 with 50k miles is gonna bring $30k..the bank will laugh at you and offer you a loan of maybe half that. if you're gonna pay cash this might be the best advice...I mean besides the RAM/Cummins of course.

but..BUT..if you're gonna tow anything around 10k lbs, and you buy a truck that has a limit of (say) 12k-14k lbs...you're limited in the future to what you can increase to.
personal experience here- buy a truck that has right at the limit of what I want to tow because you want to save a few dollars. add 2-5 years and your tow requirements go up..that's what happens..
you find yourself buying a truck you should have bought 5 years ago. this is just a plug to get a truck that you don't have to worry about adding 5-7k towing (payload) to
nuff said..I'm out

U haul is selling 5500 gmc trucks cab and chassis for a good price. Cut it down and put a flat on it and it would be a great truck. I missed out on a few here in Montgomery but there are still some out there.

If you want an older diesel, a 5.9 Cummins or a 7.3 powerstroke is the way to go.

05ish 2500hd with the LLY Duramax or a F250 with PS 7.3
