just returned from a quick pattern test and carried some Winchester Supreme 3.5" HIgh Velosity 2oz of #5s and some Winchester Supreme 3.5 High Velosity 2oz #6s and some Nitro 3.5" 4x5x7 Heavy shot.
I was shooting these from a Stoeger P350 with Jelly head .655 choke. All shots where taken at 40yrds. in a 10" circle
Nitros - 158pts
Win Sup. #6s - 205pts
Win Sup. #5s - 195pts
I really expected more from the Nitros. These are the shells and Choke recommended by them for this gun they say I should be getting 230-270.
On a side note the Win. Supremes had noticeably more felt recoil.
Now Im confused on what I need to try now...

I shot some nitros and some hevi 13 out of a benelli m-1 with a .655 choke and had similar results. I went to sportsmans outpost just outside of auburn and they told me that choke was too constrictive and would blow the pattern in those loads. I bought a pure gold .670 choke and man what a difference. I smoked a big boy this morning at 60 yards.

try a different choke. no way those WW should beat the Nitros with the right choke. And I've shot WWHV5s for twenty years er so, but Nitros will outkill em every time, farther and deader no matter what Outback says.....
158 at 40 yards is poor preformance for Nitros.....

I'd take 195 5's and call it a day. That would have to be one of the best lead patterns I had ever seen.

Any suggestions on which choke to try now?

troy I really expected better too. I even adjusted my 10" circle to the most dense area of the shot. the pattern was slightly low.

Any suggestions on which choke to try now? I have a P350...I have an Indian Creek .665 choke and use 3.5" HEVI 13 Mag blend in it...I just finally counted the pellets in an 8.5x11 target at shot at ~40 yards and got 273 in it!! I know is a slighty larger area then the 10 inch circle but I'm happy!

I'm getting 200+ at 40 yds. in a 10" circle, but that was prior to polishing my barrel. I polished it Sat. night and haven't had a chance to shoot again, but am hoping/ expecting to get up around the 220-230 range.
I'm shooting a 3.5", 2.25 oz. 4-5-7 Nitro with an I.C. .665 choke out of a Remington 870 turkey gun (23" barrel).
Not sure what oz. your shooting but I've heard the 2 7/16 oz. Nitro doesn't pattern as well.
Also, got 120 at 50 yds. but again, prior to polishing my barrel.
