Don't know why anyone would want to shoot 7 TSS. Straight 9s is the ticket , a good even pattern of about 275 pellets in the 10in at 40 yards is where it's at. And I can tell you for a fact , they'll kill at 78 yards. I shoot a Carlson extended full in my CZ. I think that would be about .595 if I remember correctly.

cant find any straight 9's and dont have anyone local that i know that loads them that i could get some from.. i can get some 7 / 9 blend but thats it

It won't make any difference. Put the pattern on the turkey with any size from 7 to 10 and he will be dead.

All I shoot in my 20’s are 8’s. Devastating to much further than you need to shoot one.

Statically you're gonna wound more with 8s by accident than 9s. Maybe mathematically is the better word but either way You'll kill those
same birds with 9s. The idea is to have a pattern that stands up as far as the killing penetration of the shot. With 9s its something like 75 yards at 1250 fps. With straight 8s its something like 110 yards but your pattern wont hold up. Somewhere at that 60 yard range you'll start wounding birds with 8s, depending on your pattern, that would have been dead with 9s. Doesnt matter if you shouldnt be shooting that far. With 8s you could kill a hen at 100 yards by a mix of accident and luck.
I can see only 3 benefits to 8s:
1) better odds of killing a bird at 100 yards, good luck with that
2) better odds of killing a body shot bird
3) less stray pellets in the body and meat within 60 yards. This one I get.
I guess what I’m saying is have Have a reason for shooting 8s other than you ought not be shooting X far because you’re shooting even further with 8s even if you don’t realize it.

I shot some Apex 8’s yesterday at 40yds and in comparison to my handloads of 7’s the pattern was really any different far as percentages in a 10” circle
This is using a IC 555
I didn’t count but I’d say upwards of 90% of the shot was in the 10” circle
When I need expert advice I tend to talk to myself

Helped a buddy with a m2 20 get a venom dialed in with apex 8’s with the sumtoy 562
420ish in the shell. Put 200 in the 10” @ 40. Put 175 in the 20” circle at 60.
Give me bout 15 more minutes, I was dreamin about beavers..........

You guys are impressive and I salute the dedication. I've never counted pellets in any sized circle in my life. Looked at patterns and gave it the ol' eyeball test though.
It's really similar to tying flies and matching the hatch. "A river runs through it" turkey style.
