I never have really understood some of the arguments being made in these threads….especially when everyone is talking about “no biological reason for having the season open through Feb 10 in the north”……as if the deer just being in rut makes it a sound biological reason for why its ok in the south. I would think that the only things that really matter are sustainable yield and total harvest……How many deer are being killed and can the herd sustain that harvest annually into perpetuity. Season dates and all the rest of it is just means to control how many get killed. Are too many bucks being killed in north Alabama now as a result of the Feb extension?? Isn’t that what matter and not whether or not the peak rut has passed? Maybe I’m just looking at it all wrong. I think you are spot on
