that remind me of politicians when they want to raise taxes for the "schools and the children".
I read a FB post last night where a guy went to GSP, saw a buck chasing a doe and now he wants deer season extended. That line of thinking parallels the politicians when I ask "how much is enough?" If the politicians had every cent, every dollar and all other treasure they'd still want more "for the children". Now it's spreading to hunters. How much deer season is enough? another month? 2 months? All year? And what after that? Night hunting too? If a stupidfucking hunter can't kill a deer in Alabama under the current season length they need to QUIT HUNTING. Period! Is there no limit to stupidity in humans?

Wiley those season dates are just random calendar numbers. Absolutely no biological reason was used to extend the season into February. Any one of us can use the same logic and determine our own random calendar numbers.
I hate making a good first impression. There’s no way I can keep that shit up.

It just blows my mind that every time somebody sees a buck chasing a doe OR didn't see it happen all season long, they think Alabama needs a LONGER season. What Alabama does need is a SHORTER season.

I honestly don’t think I’d hunt deer any more if it was open all year.

What Alabama does need is a SHORTER season. I agree. But in blount county it would sure be nice if it started around jan 1 and went to the middle of feb. Cant cater to everyone though. I just need to use those dates as my personal deer season. I almost did it this year. I had been 4 times before Christmas for an hour or so each time before dark.

I only deer hunt when it’s a cold weekend, and ducks and doves are out of season.

Shorter season? Meh. But the North zone doesn't need to be hunting in Feb. The South zone, they have a good argument with data to back up Feb hunting.
For those that haven't been keeping up, per the .minutes from the last CAB meeting our season being extended on the front end sounds like a done deal. The data (what ever that is) has been collected and it's just doing it. That's the info. Form your own opinion.

I wish to goodness that it still ended January 31st.
No reason for it to be all the way into February.

I just wish they would shut it down completely during the month of December and then reopen it Jan 1, and let it end before Vday.

No reason for it to be all the way into February. It always ends around mid-January for me and that's whether or not I've tagged out on bucks

When the February season first started I didn't take part but over the last 5 years I have figured out it's the best time of the year where Ive been hunting .Basically December 1s through about January 10th is dead. From Robert Lee day till February 10th is prime time. Less people in the woods too. I can see why you guys in the upper third of the state have no need for the extended season but at my spot in st Clair co its great. We only have about 2 weeks of doe days and the last gun doe day is January 10th so there's not a risk of shooting pregnant does.

I wish they’d end it Jan 10. So there how’s that?

Do you ever pay ANY attention to the states in the midwest or north or west that have a larger herd of mature deer AND MUCH, MUCH shorter seasons? Another surprise is that they have check systems that most all of the hunters use and their conservation departments actually use that data. Another surprise is that fines for violations are serious enough to get the attention of offenders. See a pattern here vs Alabama?

Seriously, with all due respect.
you people that have never and will never hunt south Alabama, still have no clue what you’re talking about when it comes to season dates in the southern part of the state.

I sure do. There’s a need for at least 2 zones maybe 3 with staggered start and end dates. But there’s always gonna be a pocket that is the exception to the zone. Just the way AL is.

I can almost see the line dividing North and South from my house. So, for me there is no difference. The deer cross back and forth. But I know better. The further South the bigger the change

What blows my mind is people think deer have to be in rut before you can kill them Oh buT iT is ExCiTinG tO hUnt tHe RuT!!! It's kind of sad, really. The biggest thing the peak rut and chasing do is cause a buck to be less wary, and thus easier to kill. Which means that it seems a lot of hunters just want it easy.
