My church started a program last year where we assemble weekend meals for kids who are most likely not getting food over the weekend as a result of their family situation.
My wife oversees it at the school, and at some point in time I asked her if the kids were embarassed to be taking food home for the weekend. To my surprise, she told me that those kids were excited to know that they would have food over the weekend.
The welfare society has destroyed this country over the past 50 years, and it began in earnest with the Great Society in the 60's.
I had a conversation with my Sunday School teacher last night, who started his career fighting fires with the Feds in the Appalachain mountains. When I brought up the notion of the cash crop mentality in WV and KY, he told me that the new generation of welfare recipients in the mountains are too lazy to grow weed and they now just shake and bake meth. Sad, sad world.
