Sat the same tree I was in Sunday on cahaba. It’s a transition/saddle between a hardwood ridge and a pine covered hillside with a tight power line lane separating the two. Sat down about 3:30 and everything was just right. Slight breeze in my face, not too hot not too cold and I was starting to have high expectations for this sit. Camera I set up out there has the deer moving right at dusk, so all I had to do was wait. Well.. 5 O’clock rolls around and I had been hearing something moving around in the pine thicket across from me when the lovely sound of off-road suspension and squeaking brakes hit my ears from the top of the hardwood ridge behind me. Three older men all crammed into a small side by side come rolling down a trail made by water shed off the ridge to my left. They make their way to the power line and follow across my tree at 18yds down to a creek bottom way off to my right making more noise than my five year old daughter... oh the joys of hunting public land. I’m not gonna fuss about people riding out there even tho there is countless signs saying not to. I get that people want to go out and explore. Just don’t do it during golden hour lol. Packed up and hiked a mile back to the truck. Ahh well.

Congrats JD and Cleckler!!!!! I'm going to update the scores tomorrow for the deer contest. RB sounds like you need to get further away from the traffic. It took me years to learn how to hunt public land. You have to hunt people more than deer. Go where people haven't been in a while and you will find the deers.
