It would be broken IF that child didn't get a lunch! It IS being abused. If what my mother did years ago was to happen today, we would be screwed! There are not enough jobs for people thanks to a crappy economy.
I agree that people should work and not be given a lifetime of handouts, but some have suggested they work in schools.... who is gonna do background checks on them? No telling what past criminal records some of them might have, drug dealers, pedophiles, rapist, God forbid.
I admire you for sacrificing if need be for your family, but there are lots of people out there sacrificing and it still isn't enough. Thank God that at least the kids can get a meal at school.
I'm none of the above, what I am, is a realist. EVERYBODY,goes through hard times and has to make tough choices in life. It' the people that DON'T get off their asses, to make something of their life, that I have a problem with. If you can't feed little Johnny and are having to get help to feed him, then don't turn around and have MORE kids. THOSE are the people I have an issue with and are a burden on society.
I agree, They shouldn't be rewarding getting more $ from the government for having another child, but until that problem is fixed, that doesn't feed an hungry child a meal.
I'm not picking at you. You're right everyone goes through hard times. However, it's not the Federal governments job to help them. That's the traditional roles of neighbors, family and the churches.
Federal government not only has not business doing it, they have no constitutional authority to do it either.
