Gimme a break. Nobody thinks kids should not eat. The frustration is with the parents that don't have there priorities straight.
My problem is helping folks that think owning a big screen, new car, ipod, 1700 satellite channels, and a smart phone are God given rights. More times than not folks have additional ways to decrease their cost of living, but choose not to because they "deserve" to have those things.
I saw an article where a woman in Georgia was being interviewed because she was receiving assistance on her power bill through Georgia Power. In her living room she was standing there with a 50" (approx.) flat panel tv and a video game system right below it.
Why that pisses me so much is that I don't have a flat panel tv, game system, ipod, smart phone, cable tv, etc. I don't have these things not because I can't afford to have them, I just choose to save my money instead. Somehow if tax payers are going to be asked to foot the bill, there needs to be checks in place to ensure that "free money" isn't being misused. You might as well be buying homegirl and new tv and game system instead of paying her power bill....you might as well be buying beer and cigarettes for mom and dad instead of food for the kids. I don't have the solution, but ENABLING people to keep there priorities out of wack is definitely not going to work.
