Around my small property it's crazy how the deer disappear around Feb 1 after the peak rut. It's like turning off a faucet. Very few pics....even at night around my feeder. Wonder where they go and why their pattern changes so drastically? Any thoughts?

Lots of dead deer due to hunters and highways. Lots of extra pressure during the rut. Lots of bucks that are really worn down from the rut that are laying low in the thickest gnarled up pine and briar thickets eating saw brier and privet. And lastly they're extra fat from all of the corn feeders everywhere so they aren't going very far to find enough food to keep them going until they can relax because of deer season ending. Half of the corn will dissapeare then and they will be on their feet more looking for groceries.

My place fired up the 21st. Saw increasing rut activity until Saturday morning the 25th when the rifle pressure was off the charts. It shut down almost instantly by Sunday and all the rut activity switched to nighttime. I checked cameras today and most of them showed multiple bucks holding with does every night this past week. Our rut was pretty much a non event. My best hunting this year was the 15th of October till velvet shedding on the 21st of October.

Its wild to me how we rarely saw a deer in December and now its like we are overrun with them. You can't get out of the truck at our place near Newville without hitting a deer with your door it seems.

Everyone's deer always seem to disappear around this time. I think its due to the pressure but some people think otherwise

Hunkered down in the nastiest thicket they can find if they lived through the season. Lot's of them on the roadways dead lately too.
