Yessir he did tell me that at my appointment in July.

One, or two, things I've always noticed about people who make lifestyle changes:

They often have truly supportive spouses (or friends, family) who don't try to drag them down by not participating, eating or preparing bad chit, or try to guilt you into "Just have some ice cream at Meemaw's today to make her happy." True support from a spouse (or friends, family) should always be uplifting, encouraging and without jealousy or "he's trying to be better than me."

The other thing is once someone gets on fire - like RH or Fur - and sees results, they don't want to revert.

Congrats to y'all who are sticking with it and losing weight. Those who are hitting walls, backslide (my problem) or can't get motivated, stick with it!

Clem it sure is easier when you have that network but in my case I didn’t have good support. I just got to the point that I didn’t blame anyone but me for my problem. My wife has now come on board but she sure didn’t start that way. She has no self discipline though (and I didn’t either until 9 months ago) so she says Keto doesn’t work for her. Keto works for everybody but you can’t do keto for 2 days and eat like crap and drink cokes one or two days a week. Keto isn’t a diet, it’s eating certain foods to make your body enter Ketosis. You can’t flip that switch on and off. It takes time. She’s started doing 2- 24 hour fasts per week and that’s helping her.

10 months in as of today. Down to 233. 82 lbs total, 77 on keto. More frequent intermittent fasting I think is what kicked my weight loss back in gear.

The more you lose the harder it is to lose. I've worked up to just one meal a day. I'm doing about 20 hours a day fasted and eating during a 4 hour window. I worked up to it and don't get hungry, weak,or feel bad in any way by fasting longer. I'm also fasting the whole day about 1 in every 4-5 just depending on how I feel.

There are huge health benefits to fasting if anyone wants to research it.

Excellent job Fur! Keep it up buddy. Staying focused is the key. Get as much health conscious information as you can into your wife. The only way to change behavior is to change thinking, and to do that you need to input new information. One huge problem with husbands and wive's is that neither wants to be told what to do by the other one. My wife will watch a youtube video and stop eating artificial sweeteners like she has just learned how bad they are, even though I have been telling her the same thing for a year.

Dadgum did you just sum up marriage in 2 sentences.

Congrats Fur, I'm going to have to start doing something myself. Since having our baby I've been packing on the pounds quicker rather than slower. Starting to get out of hand due to bad choices. You guys are an inspiration!

10-4! Fur is doing great and I know some of you other guys are too. Trying to say that if ya'll want your wives to get on board, get them to watch some good videos on it, cause she will hear it a lot better and not resent you for telling her. LOL

Fur, I've seen a couple YouTube vids regarding the LDL going up on a Keto diet. Basically the doc was saying there is 2 types of LDL, in addition to the HDL. One good (LDL A) and one bad (LDL B). He was saying as long as the LDL A was what increased the total LDL number you were still good. But to know which one it was, you had to look at another number since they didn't really test for the A and B. I'll have to find it again, but it was very interesting.

Since I PM'd you a few weeks ago, I have started eating a keto diet. I'm down 20 lbs overall since October just from cutting calories, but 12 of that has been in the last 3 weeks since I started this keto thing. I really haven't been that strict with it, as I have a cheat day every Friday night when I go eat Mexican. I get back on it Saturday though and it seems to be working for me

Thanks guys. RH, I got my wife to start watching Jason Fung's videos. That's what got her started fasting. She's doing a 24 hour fast, 2-3 times a week. I told her, but just like you said....

I know RH was an inspiration for me and I hope that I have been for some of you guys too. If you're that guy who is sitting there thinking, "there's no way I can do that. It won't work for me." I was you, 10 months and 80 lbs ago. I went from eating honey buns from breakfast, to fasting in less than a year. If I can do it, I guarantee you can too. Just gotta take it one meal at a time.

When I started my keto journey 1/6/20, I set a tentative goal of doing it until my BCBS health screening appointment. That was today.

I'm down 16 pounds, finally back "in the green" for BMI, total cholesterol of 203, triglycerides 99, glucose 82, and my BP was 104/78.

With results like that, I'm now thinking I'll never go back to my old diet.

I started my weight loss journey the first week of sept and as of last Saturday was down 72 pounds. I’m not doing keto, because I have no clue what it is but I am eating clean healthy foods and controlling portions. I average a couple hours a day if some kind of exercise. I’ve started running some again and have my miles sub 10 minute again. The elliptical and I have gotten real tight.

Great job ! You make a good point as well. No matter what "diet" anyone goes on it can't be defined as something I will start to lose weight and go off of when I reach my goal. Go back to your old diet and it won't be long before the weight comes back.

Your new definition for "diet" has to be a new and sustainable healthy way to eat.

That's awesome YEKRUT. I originally missed your post. Congratulations.

Today makes 11 months that I've been on Keto. I started trying to lose weight in February. I started at 315 lbs. April 4, I was at 311 when I started Keto. This morning I weighed 225.0.

90 lbs total, 86 on Keto.
