A little late getting this up, but I was able to finally track a buck down that I had been after for two years. He's no giant in comparison to a lot of the deer that get posted on this site, but for my part of the state and the small farm I hunt he is a trophy and I am dang proud of him. I moved back to southeast Alabama from Colorado almost two years ago now and immediately started working to improve habitat and the deer heard on our family farm. Deer sightings have been hard to come by this season, and buck sightings had been almost non existent. I have gotten over 100 pictures of this deer the last two years with only one in the daylight(October 24th 2018), I also had no pictures of this particular deer for over a month and figured someone else had killed him, but I stayed with it and hunted hard every chance I got. Anyway Saturday morning around 8 AM it all came together. I caught a glimpse of a doe moving through some thinned pines about 100 yards out and was focused on trying to find her again when I noticed movement out of the corner of my eye. Look over and this guy is standing 15 yards from me looking in the same direction I had just seen that doe. I'm only about 14 ft. up a pine in my climber with no cover and figure I'm about to get busted, but his mind was on one thing and I was able to let him walk off a little ways before moving to get my rifle. He was about 50 yards at this point and I was able to make a good shot and drop him in his tracks. Sorry for the long post, but I have been floating ever since and this was the first time i had ever been able to connect on a specific deer that i had been after.
