I remember as a kid being taught that racism was when ANY other race was treated with malicious intent or discrimination for the purpose of trying to prevent that person from receiving fair or equal treatment. Now, it, like other forms of people getting their feelings hurt, its redefined as not only mistreatment of another race but also includes making ANY sort of comment which would be offensive to a person of another race. Our HR people say not even to mention a person's race for any reason when referring to them. So, I no longer say, "Chop Chop Hop Sing!" when I want someone to get moving or refer to them as "that black dude" if I don't know his name. I was told if the minority doesn't like the comment they can file a racism complaint for ANYTHING.
