When we were at Couples Negril, you could look and listen across the bay at that place late at night while we were chilling out having a cocktail by the fire and those folks would be throwing some kind of demonic orgy. If I was back in my 20's maybe... Nah.

I’ve been on 2 cruises.
1st was a 7 day carnival cruise that went from New Orleans to Montego Bay to Cayman Islands to Cozumel and back to New Orleans. I personally had a blast. I do have to say, for the most part I enjoyed the boat more than I did the port of calls. Reason being everything on the boat is already paid for and there is a ton to do/ eat and drink. Montego Bay and Cozumel are “tourist traps” for sure. The exception was the Cayman Islands. I thoroughly enjoyed the caymans, it has beautiful clear blue water and beautiful beaches. We ended up taking a snorkeling tour there.
2nd cruise was a 5 day Royal Caribbean cruise that went from Miami-Nassau-Cocoa cay- Miami. We also had a blast on this cruise. We did not spend to much time in Nassau and ended up getting back on the boat pretty quick. Cocoa Cay is amazing. It’s a royal Caribbean owned Island so food and drinks are included (considering you have some type of drink package) you can pay extra to do certain things on the island such as the water park, hot air balloon ride, or rent a private cabana. But it’s completely free to use the pools, beach chairs, umbrellas, and just relax. If you decide to go Royal Caribbean I HIGHLY recommend going to cocoa cay.
As I said for the most part I enjoyed the boat more than the port of calls. With the exception of the Cayman Islands and Cocoa Cay. I’m going to give you a few tips That I would follow.
1. Don’t directly book the trip yourself. Hire a travel agent to find you the best deals.
2. If you plan to drink any alcohol. Even just a few beers a day go ahead and get the drinking package. It only takes 4 or 5 drinks to get your moneys worth.
3. Pay a little extra and get any time running and eat when you’re ready not when you are assigned to eat.
4. If you want to do an excursion, book it before you get on the boat. It will be a lot less expensive
5. When you are on the boat download whatever app they have available and schedule what activities you want to go to and map out where they are.
6. Take plenty of hand sanitizer and wash your hands frequently. Also not a bad idea to wipe down your room at the beginning of the trip.

Wife and I did Royal Caribbean for our honeymoon. Really didn't spend much time at all in Nassau...but like you said Cocoa Cay was great. I splurged for the private cabana, and it was super nice, but we spent the whole day snorkeling because there was so much to see.

All very good advice. If you do decide the Caribbean route, try to get one that goes to the Caymans. Very nice, safe and pretty.

We cruise often. I’ll try to clean up some of the info.
A cruise is pretty much all inclusive. Especially since you are not a drinker.
5-7 day cruises rule out a number of people. Most of the three day cruises are considered booze cruises.
Germs? No difference than being cooped up on a plane.
All inclusive resorts are nice if you want the pool and beach, which you can do with less hassle in Gulf shores or Destin.
Lots of entertainment on the cruise, and if you want to explore ports of call you can.
You can book excursions through the cruise line or independent. Same price before or during the cruise.
September is hurricane time for the Caribbean. Cheaper cruises but risk itinerary changes.
Progresso port is amazing if you do an excursion with Yucatan Cenote.
If you are a Costco member use their travel service. I don’t think there are better deals out there.
Get a oceanview or balcony room.
I said I would never do a cruise, and finally did one. After that one we have done at least two a year.
We have never had or needed an armed guard in Belize.
I do not care for Nassau. I usually avoid a cruise going there but ended up there last September due to a hurricane. We still had a blast.
I guess it is all you make of it. I would try a cruise out of New Orleans because you can goof off there before or after if you want to.

As a quick follow up.
For Spring break our family of 4 is doing a 5 day with two stops in Mexico . Cozumel and Progresso. Our meals and entertainment are included.
Total cost $1988.56.
Throw in parking 61.00
Gas to from New Orleans 100.00
Hotel the night before 140.00
Cost 2290.00
We travel a lot. I haven’t figured out how to fly 4 to Mexico, plus hotel etc for 5 days for that.

Inside passage Alaskan cruise was the best we have ever done. I don't ever care to go to another Caribbean island. There is more to see in America than you could see in a lifetime

Isla Mujares. I have friends that have been 5 times. Privilege Aluxes is where they like to stay. I believe you fly into Cancun and take a short ferry ride to the island. Isla Mujares is not very wide and maybe 7 miles long. Facebook has a page called Islaholics and it is very informative.

Go all-inclusive resort and fly. X2 Turks & Caicos is really nice. no trashy mess like some Carib islands
