After a challenging morning, our marvelous sweet angel saint friend offered to watch kids, so my oldest boy Elijah and I headed to the woods for some peace and quiet. We hiked up to our stand and Eli had just climbed the ladder and sat down on the seat when he whispered down to me “Dad! Deer! BUCK!” A good buck was trotting towards us without a care in the world. I was still standing on the ladder below him so I handed him my rifle and he managed to squeeze off a shot while I was standing on the ladder watching. The shot was true and the buck dropped and we just looked at each other like Did that really just happen?!??? I’m still amazed at how it went down. Fastest hunt I’ve ever experienced. Thankful for great memories with my boy. This is his first racked buck. Your gun may have just became "his" gun Haha maybe. He’s comfortable with it and it’s a shooter for sure. I actually bought a little youth model 243 a few years ago but just none of my kids could get comfortable and shoot straight with it, so I got rid of it. He does far better with that Scout, so we just stick with what works....We know what works for us! 😁
