We got a Blink XT2 for christmas.....I had high hopes for it but will be returning it. No matter how I position it, it only picks up about 12' away. You can see my truck in the driveway in plain view, 20' from the door, but it wont pick up someone snooping around. It only picks someone up once they're AT the door, then the delay is about 15 seconds before it notifies me. From what I've read, they struggle with head-on motion and work better with lateral motion, but that kinda defeats the purpose of a front porch camera if you cant get people approaching the porch.
May try the Ring doorbell, but I'm concerned about that one because, due to the placement, it will be in direct sunlight for the last 3-4 hrs a day. Anyone have one that gets direct sunlight? Does it blind them like your think it would? Also, how does the ring do with head-on motion?
I got one for Christmas as well and it works great, picks up movement a solid 25 to 30ft from the front door, every time the dog runs by in the front yard it goes off. Has some delay but maybe a sec or 2 at most. I do have mine slightly off set though and anyone coming up to my front porch has to be coming from the side so that may have something to do with it as well.
