I’ve seen where people in Texas feed deer with bales or piles of cotton seed, would that work here? Probably. I was on a place that the deer were eating the cotton plants. They're goats and eat anything. I wouldnt ne surprised if there was a photo of one standing on top of a car. Our deer killed about 60 acres of cotton plants this yr. They have never bothered them before this yr

I've been feeding peas perfect , whole blackeyed peas 14.50 a 50lb bag , have boss buck gravity feeders and mix 2 to 1 peas to corn ratio. peas are 85 percent digestible compared to most protein pellets that are usually only 65 to 70 percent digestible....

I’ve seen where people in Texas feed deer with bales or piles of cotton seed, would that work here? In Texas, I couldn't keep the darn cattle off it long enough. In my feeder pen, I had a timed feeder, but what really got them was a sweet sorghum block. I would go in the night before and dump a jar of molasses on top of it. But this was all before the feral hogs invaded the place.

i like to mix wheat seed(it has about 13% protien) in with my corn and if the weather is right I'll mix some rice bran in there. I like to add a little something like strawberry coolaid, cmere deer corn coat, or a shot of that vanilla spray if i am establishing a new feeding spot. This has been the first year in the last 10 years i havent put out any feed though.
I've always heard about the cotton seed, one thing that i always wondered is if cotton seed causes a type of birth control in deer. They say slaves use to eat cotton plants (roots especially)to keep from getting pregnant. I don't know if any of that is true just what i heard.
How you do anything is how you do everything

The harder I practice, the luckier I get.

I hunted farms that grew nothing but cotton for 10-15 years and there was always some cotton eaten by deer and i never saw any lower numbers that we might have attributed to "birth control".
