Is it happening more often these days or is it just more publicized due to social media and such. Seems like everyday there’s another announcement of someone going missing, and I’m talking about folks from the surrounding areas. Not some other state. I’m talking about right here in our back yard. It’s men as well as women. What is wrong with our world today?

Some friends and I talked about it last night. I think it's social media.

I'm not so sure it's just social media. The human trafficking thing has become a real problem that doesn't seem to garner much attention. Along the I-20 corridor (and specifically Atlanta) is one of the worst areas for people disappearing. It's both men and women.... young and old. It's not only that they disappear but are never seen nor heard from again.

I think a lot of it is drugs. They go off on a binge and tell no one and come back when they run out of money.

24 hour news cycle and social media. The statistics show kidnappings are way down from a high in the 1970s. Also, although it is hard to believe, violent crime is much lower than it was in the late 70s and early 80s.

I just wouldn’t have expected that.

I wonder how many people go missing that are not considered kidnapped, though, when they are, in fact, abducted? That makes me wonder if the kidnapping stats are correct. I think it is probably hard to consider an adult is abducted unless it is caught on camera.

yup, its just that there are camera's everywhere and stuff hits social media as soon as it happens that it seems like its happening more often. Keep in mind, that back in the 70's if a child went missing in Bham you wouldnt or may not even heard about it Montgomery for several days.

The speed of information has surpassed relativity.
Hopefully, we as a people can catch up to the speed and not over react to everything.

It's just publicized more via 24/7 news channels and social media. Trafficking has been going on since Biblical days with slavery and other things. Nothing new, nothing worse now than before.

Sex trafficking is gaining popularity. I think it's because the democrats in this country have tried to make us accept perversion as normal behavior. But there's also lots of money in sex trading. (see Jeffery Epstein) and "South of the border" drug cartels are expanding into anything that makes money. Every finger points toward the democrats platform and they seem to be proudly beating their drum over the oppression and degradation of America.
I hate making a good first impression. There’s no way I can keep that shit up.

They say there’s more money in human trafficking then drugs these days and that’s very scary . As has been pointed out before you can’t wear out a self lubricating machine. So only maintenance is upholstery, a little paint and fuel.
