Then why were none of his teams at Prattville not allowed to play in the championship games?

He has made clear several times he doesn’t want to leave UAB. I have been told by someone inside the program that he was contacted this year by Arkansas and quickly said no thanks. They are building him a new stadium and giving him everything he wants. Not all coaches want to move up to power 5.

I would t compare him to Blakney. Hell, Blakney was an admitted cheater caught on tape that lead to Auburn going on probation. Clark has unfounded rumors about changed grades and practice times. Wow!

There are rumors about every high school coach that wins. Most come from jealousy.

Does anyone think that there is a single high school football coach that follows all the rules? They all practice year round now. They just call them workouts.

The unfounded rumors you speak of. Surely you know the results so how can you call them unfounded? Why did he leave Prattville to take an assistant job at USA? Surely you know the pay differences since he was the football coach AND a full time employee for the City of Prattville? Then the Tim Rawlinson deal. Or the player that stole the golf cart from the Country Club, hit some vehicles, then ran it in the pond? Yea, he played the next night. That's no rumor but may not be against the AHSAA rules. But at least the player that shot and killed a guy waited until after season, on Christmas Day. He was leaving Prattville. The people had had enough of what was happening. That ain't no unfounded rumor.

Really? A high school coach goes to an assistant at a college and that isn’t an upward move? He is responsible for criminal acts of players? Do you hold the teachers and the principal responsible too?

What were the unfounded rumors you spoke of? The ones looked into and found not to be true?

Prattville has always been accused of cheating. Prattville High school football has always been accused of playing players who lived in Montgomery. Did Prattville go recruit players from Montgomery? Absolutely, But if a kid wants to move out of the city of Montgomery and come live with his aunt and uncle or Grandma and Grandpa why shouldn't he be able to. As long as they abide by the AHSAA rules, which they did every single time. Every good High school football program does that, just look at Hoover. Prattville has been investigated twice for having illegal players and both times they didn't find anything.

As far as the grade changing thing, I don't know I cant prove it one way or the other, I do know they had a program at Prattville, FOR ALL ATHLETES, that provided tutors and help writing papers and other things like that for student athletes.

About the practicing to early. Yes, high schools are not allowed to hold "mandatory" or "full pads practice" until so many weeks before season. The way all high schools get away with this is having "voluntary" practices that are not full pads. so basically you are practicing in everything except knee pads.

Then why did they not get in trouble?

I can tell you, my son practices 4 days a week starting the week after school gets out in the summer and then every day starting August 1.

They were fined. I can get you the amount tomorrow. Today's rules are different. Clark has been gone from Prattville for 11 years. He started there 20 years ago.

First, all major college programs skirt around the rules in some way. I have no doubt that in big college programs, players are paid, always have been and always will be. SEC schools are probably the biggest offenders in this regard IMHO.

Second, maybe Bill has gotten a little more of a bad rap than he deserves, but obviously some folks in college football are leery of him. Once that mindset has set in the people who are in charge, it can take a long time to erase it. Otherwise, I feel he would be mentioned prominently when these searches happen every year. But, you rarely hear his name mentioned, and winning coaches at these type programs need to take advantage of their opportunities when their name is hot. Before long, he won't be hot and his future prospects will vanish like a fart in the wind.

I hold no ill will towards Bill, and he's done a great job at UAB. If UAB is good enough for him and his family then more power to him.
