I don’t see how he’s a part owner in this site. Much less anything in life Outback is not part owner of this site. Is he a moderator? You need to re-examine your selection criteria. It is being looked at. Just heard 3 dead from these storms, others still unaccounted for. ALL HYPE. Is there really that much to evaluate?

If you watch storm coverage you know there is a ton of hype with every storm. Yesterday the idiot covering them on Fox kept asking questions that would remove all doubt. How many times have we seen reporters standing in a hole to make water look deeper or leaning to make wind seem rougher only to see bystanders walk behind them showing no sign of strong winds. Not every storm has casualties so they hype their coverage for ratings.

Y'all, let's just be concerned with the families affected and lives lost by this terrible event and not turn this into a bitch fest about some members here.

Stayed over in sylacauga last night. Watched the weather early and said a prayer for everyone affected and hoped for the best for the rest of the night. It must not have been to bad when it came through cause it never woke me up but the wife says it's still lightening and raining at the house. It sure did turn cold after the rain stopped here though
What you do today, you have to sleep with tonight.

Maybe if everyone just goes through Mr.Chief or Mr.Burbank for pre-approval of a post, it may solve the problem. they could just tell us it doesn't pass the IQ test or simply just STFU.

Ya'll leave Mark alone. He is a good guy and would do anything for any of ya'll.
He does like Trump and says stuff just to make some of ya'lls head spin.

Bham Fred is right Mark is good folks. I'm sure he is and we would probably get along just fine but that doesn't mean we should just overlook the stupid chit he posts on a weekly basis. We hold everyone else accountable so.... post something stupid then reap the consequences. That's my $0.02 and only worth $0.02.

So yes, the moderators hold people accountable...and many of them for saying not half the stupid and inconsiderate crap he does.

When I mentioned “holding accountable” I was specifically talking about just calling people out on dumb chit. Nothing more nothing less.
If other members post something stupid they are called out. When Mark says something stupid and it’s called out you get the “he’s a good guy leave him alone crowd showing up. And yes I realize this website is privately owned and the owners can do as they damn well please (I support that). I’m sure Mark could give two chits about what people think of him but damn, think about what you are saying sometimes.
He’s starting to sound like a grumpier version of Blackhawk 😂😂

Y’all let too much stuff get under your skin. Sure Outback (Mark) is a curmudgeon, but he will do anything for you. For those of you who believe he hates everyone - he used to donate items (I won a Thermacell he had donated to the raffle - and if memory serves me correctly, he donated several of them to be used as prizes). to the raffle when the Aldeer members would sponsor Christmas for children back in the day. Then paid the shipping to get them to the winners.
I’m not saying being a longtime member of Aldeer gives you any more privileges that someone that has been on board for a short while, but it does give you perspective of a person when you have “known” for a long time and have seen many of the good things they have done.

Thanks to each of you for the valuable psychology lessons. Those of you with the sore vagina will be happy to know my moderator powers have been revoked. I'll try my very best, from now on, to make comments only about the sweet smell of newborn puppies and the peaceful feelings I get from watching the morning dew drip off the wild Lilly fields.
I hate making a good first impression. There’s no way I can keep that shit up.

Damn! Did free speech go the way of the dinosaurs?
If he gets under some of y'all's skin so bad, just put him in ignore.
Yes, some of what he posts comes across in a feather ruffling manner, but if the SHTF he is one I would want in my corner. He is a little old school and that is okay. There is something to be said for those who don't depend on a "dummy light" for all of life's navigation and who knows how to do life old school. I, for one, can appreciate that.
I do not for one minute think he is all happy about death and destruction that comes with bad weather like tornadoes and hurricanes. In fact, I think he saw plenty of it over in the sandbox that he lives with every damn day. I don't know how many of the rest of you can list that on your resume of life.
A whole bunch of us, myself included, do not really know what it is like to walk in another's shoes and we might should be a little less judgemental about others because none of us knows the demons another is battling.

Everyone really needs to chill on Outback's tornado post. Compared to some of the other stuff he has said, it was nothing. He's cynical of weather coverage based on his perception of years of coverage but he's seen plenty of destruction too from storms over the years.
Hype means to intensively market something or even to exaggerate something to get special focus or attention....or viewers. Weather coverage is a delicate balance of real science, real coverage and real warnings to benefit the people and keep them weather aware and safe/prepared...very important work----and--- weather coverage is also a business with marketing and ratings and viewers so that stations get as many people watching them as possible which does have a positive economic impact. In Alabama we've all seen storms or weather events that were promoted as coming that ended up being nothing. That's just weather...it happens. But events still need to be covered so that people can be weather aware and take needed precautions to stay safe. But I think we can all say that we've seen, over the years, some over the top weather coverage too that could be easily classified as "hype".
The events of yesterday were definitely hyped---but in a good way...it was in the news cycle front and center so everyone would be aware. That's the good definition of hype. I didn't see much exaggeration or false spin in yesterday's coverage that I watched.....creating a false narrative to get viewers---the bad hype.
