So I'm flying over to Houston from Mobile this afternoon. Boarding group 2 , seat 3A. Me and my traveling buddy get to our seats, cram our backpacks into the overhead and settle in. A few minutes later a early twenties cutie in the bulkhead seat across from me asks "is this your backpack in the overhead?" I answer "one of them is." She then asks me if I can get my backpack down and put it under the seat in front of me because she needs to put her purse up and she doesn't have a seat in front of her to put the purse. After staring at her trying to figure out if she was serious, I finally tell her not to worry, once the aisle traffic clears, I feel sure that we can get her purse in the overhead. As soon as the aisle clears, she jumps up, pushes at her purse in the overhead briefly and then declares, "there is no room, it's not going to fit. I really don't see why you can't put your bag at your feet so I can put my purse in the overhead". At that point, in spite of the fact I feel sure that I could have got her purse in the overhead, the fact that I am over twice her age and don't want a bag at my feet plus the very simple truth that I was there first thus my bag being in the overhead to start worth, I just shut up, looked straight ahead and let the stewardess deal with her. Unbelievable the entitlement some folks feel.
