If someone did that to me in an interview I'd tell them to pack sand and they are no longer a candidate. The interview and drug screen we do in the hiring process is for the potential candidate - not me.

This x100. I honestly don’t care what you do in your free time but if it’s a condition of employment then you gotta follow the rules in order to play the game.

I played athletics in high school and college. We were tested regularly

Private School I went to tested everyone once and then random test after that. Pretty sure it was 1st failure slap on wrist, 2nd sent you to rehab and 3rd failure kicked you out... unless your family had plenty of money then it was a slap on the wrist each time while your parents provided the school with a nice donation.

The job would've been allright decent pay some benefits but first impressions work both ways and the more I heard the less attractive it became. When your company mandates testing it's for everyone hr people are included in everyone. Sure I probably should have been more diplomatic but I wasn't and Mr. I dictate policy to you and how dare you question policy before hiring learned a lesson. I will note this was a man in his 30s so we can't blame a Millennial.

Exactly what lesson did he learn?

Sounds more like you were the one trying to dictate policy, and you didn't even work there.

Found out the other day my kids were tested for nicotine as well. I am fine with it but that was the first I had heard of that. It was also for sports at a private school.

I never got tested in public school. I think it’s related to extracurricular activities these days. Otherwise it’s not constitutional. Adults would never put up with that BS, and rightfully so.

As an employee of a public school system, we can be randomly tested at any time. we had to sign a paper stating so at the time of employment.
As a bus driver, I am required to submit to a drug and alcohol test if and when I have an type vehicular accident

Getting booted from school for one failed test for Pot seems extreme.

Dang it’s barely been 4 months. Does she play 10 sports / activities? Maybe each one requires testing.

Could be that they have to do so many and they know shell pass. Might just be afraid to test some of the other students.

My wife's cousin, who was my youth hunter this year told me about some of the football players at the private school my children graduated from tested positive for...........nicotine from vaping. I had no idea they tested for that. My high school had a smoking area for students and a smoking lounge for teachers. Just about all the white guys except two of us that I played baseball with couldn't function without a dip or chew. I bet today's kids wouldn't believe it.

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

I bet, no, I know there are more than a couple that keep their shotguns or rifles, depending on the season in their trunks or the rear floorboard of their truck covered with camp coats and such. Early morning duck hunting has become the big thing. Pretty much don’t ask and don’t tell as long as you are in uniform for school.
