as an aside............what percentage of folks that hunt on their own, privately-owned land do you think even game-check one to begin with? I gotta think it's pretty low.

I just print extra licenses once i fill out HIP info on one and the deer is at processor I just throw it out and start with a fresh one Im not jumping thru hoops to hunt. like ive said before if it wasnt about money theyd just ask the processors in each county for a report. what they want is to catch you with a filled out HIP that hasnt been called in yet to write a ticket. they would get a much more accurate count from a processor and figure in whatever % process at home and be done with it.

I've said this from the start. All it takes is obtaining, printing or copying the "harvest" record, filling it out before you move your deer and getting another clean one when you get home. The way to avoid this is with a physical tag required on the buck or doe, and those tags could be made by the hunter (like is required in Ohio) to avoid the "we don't have money for tags!" arguments.



I'd bet more follow through with GC than don't, even on their own land, because IMO most hunters believe in data, management and following the rules (even if they don't like it).

Of the latter group, most probably are concerned about getting caught than anything. They may not like it but they're going to do it because ever since kindegarten we've been brainwashed into getting in line, following the rules, doing the right thing, and doing what's good for the overall instead of an individual.

I know you guys dont like it but you still have it good. In IN we use to have to take deer to ck in station. Which was hunting storeor mom and pop gas station where they would record info and attach metal tag to deers leg. No processor or taxidermist would take deer without number. Problem is on wekends the ck in stations would close by 6 or 7 and no place to ck it in Now we ck in by app or phone or computer. I like it for that and i can see as of right now we have killed 94 365 deer. I can also click on map and see a little ovet 9000 deer have been killed in county i hunt in

WV used to be that way also until just a few years ago. What a PITA. I have no problem with on-line/telephone check-in methods.

I killed an 8 point last Tuesday. Took less than a minute with game check. So much easier than carrying all that in a bill fold. So the GW your phone. It’s easy.

Shoot deer, game check ,fill out transport tag , give to to processor and they put all that info on your order ticket or at least the one we use up there does I do agree the old check station deal sucked going to the trailer park in the dark was a lil shady at times

I don't think I'm alone in my opinion. We generally don't have a problem with game check. We have a major problem with Chuck Sykes and his arrogant indignation.

Is there a way to use the app to report a deer my Grandson kills? When I open it up on my phone, it has my Conservation ID and I don't see a way to change that.
