A friend wants me to go with him the first of Nov. to bow hunt public land, he said they still had tags available 2 weeks ago when he got his. Never hunted there before but if I can get a tag I will go this year.
Any tips or favorite counties? I can't believe how much public land there is, and a lot of it is cropland!

We are hunting the Shawnee National Forest and I was looking to find out a little info. We will be up there the last week of Oct. and the first week of November.

This is a lot of public land, but there are also a lot of hunters. Late oct and early nov the worst, better plan on going in sept to do a little recon.

muzziehead, who are you hunting with? I grew up in Crossville, Il. Its about 7 miles from carmi. Carmi's the county seat. I have hunted all over white county. Maybe I can help you out on locations.
