I'm sure there have been a ton of discussion on here regarding safety vest, but I haven't been on in a while.
I have never used a safety system but I hunt alone most of the time, so I have decided that it may be best for me to look into them.
I bow hunt 99% of the time so I need something that will not get in my strings way. Also I do not like "klinky" buckles.

I use the hunter safety system. I needed it because i had to get 30 to 40 feet in a tree to be above a ridge. Talk about scary, being that high. I usually put it on at the truck and walk it with it on. The two straps that wrap around your legs are seat belt buckels. the two in the fron tof the chest is a hard plastic clickers.
I would buy a little bigger size because when your wearing alot of clothing it does get a little tight.

I looked at both the Hunters Safety System and the Muddy at the Buckmasters Expo this month...finally settled on the Muddy...it is more of a harness then a vest and too me...was the better fitting system The key is getting one that is comfortable that you will wear, because it ain't going to help you sitting on your shelf because it is a hassle...makes noise or is hot. Just my 2 cents...good luck

For the last several years, I have been using a SOP harness that I usually wear under my outer-wear(always when bowhunting). I have been considering a new HSS vest mainly because I don't like walking in the SOP. With the HSS, you can just buckle the leg straps without going around your legs for the walk in. If you do this with the SOP, the buckles keep coming undone or the strap slides back through(you probably have to have one to know what I'm talking about). Anyway, I have also noticed that the new HSS vests have rubber coated buckles and are of a slimmer fitting design. Anyone have one of the new ones? CD.

the one you wear..That being said any of the vest type are good les hassle to put on therefor you will wear them..I have HSS..

I have the Hunter Safety System Pro series and I love it. Take my advice though, any of them don't work unless you use them the the correct way, found that out the hard way.

I use the HSS. The only thing I have against them are the mesh ones. They catch on the bark on your tree and may make noise at the wrong time.Easy to use and comfortable.

Back when I got to hunt I used the SOP.
Whatever you do, avoid any harness made in china. The CPSC is full of treestands and harness recalls from china.
Hunters View recalled a vest a year or so ago and then had to recall the replacement.
If your life depends on it don't skimp on it.

HSS to me is the best so far. All I do is Bow Hunt and it's easy to put on and climb with, also it's comfortable.

If you think you "need" the vest pockets etc. (I happen to find them very handy both during hunting scenarios and while hanging stands), then get the HSS Pro series. If you don't think you need the vest pockets, get the Muddy. You'll be tickled to death with either one.

I made the switch from Seat of the Pants to HSS 2 years ago with one modification...I kept the round rope from the seat of the pants that goes around the tree...lots quieter than the flat strap...infact, I've made up a bunch of those ropes with extended length and place them with every lock-on so I can hook up on the ground and just slide the prusic knot as I go up the steps to the stand. Safety...Comfort...Simplicity.

SOP is tough to beat if you use lock-on's much with the lineman harness clips on the sides.
