All states don’t allow baiting deer, and many of the ones that do dont have the massive natural food sources Alabama has. Y’all may want to read the studies that have been done in how supplemental feed/ bait affects the hog populations, turkey disease rates, chronic wasting disease and South Carolina’s study of hunter success rates in areas where baiting is allowed vs. areas where prohibited.
But baiting isnt why I don’t give my money to Alabama, anyway. I’ve hunted Kentucky farms where bait was present and could have killed young bucks and does over the bait trough. Even though i don’t care too much about trophy bucks, I just choose not to take those opportunities. I’m more about the sport and the overall experience. I no longer care if someone shoots a deer over corn, I just won’t be giving y’all any high fives for your participation trophy kills.

I've hunted Kansas and Mississippi, both allowed baiting. Kansas has an abundance of natural food sources that Alabama could only dream about - endless acres of soybean and corn fields. 😀

In fairness the bucks I've shot and my friends have shot over the years in Kansas have NOT been at the corn feeders. Maybe a couple, but these guys have been going to the same area for over 10 years and have killed a couple dozen BIG deer, and the big boys don't come to the feeders.

Well that’s my point. If ya’ll are just trying to “feed the family”, have at them does and spikes wandering to the feeder. If you’re after the big boys or the experience of the hunt, sitting over a pile of candy corn isn’t really going to help. Like I said, Alabama isn’t getting my money anyway, so I don’t really have a dog in the fight.
