Shed Master, I got excellent penetration out of my Montecs last year. I shot a couple of does with them and they were great. I shot the 100 grain. They do have a small cutting diameter, as long as you hit where you should blood-trailing isn't an issue.
I love the 1 piece solid construction and their ease of sharpening.
They came out with the CS model this year (carbon steel) that is supposed to be even stronger.
Then again, I've never gone wrong with 100 grain Thunderheads. I killed a 240 lb buck in IL with on eand he ran less than 40 yards.
Whatever you do on those larger deer, please use a fixed blade.
