Sorry I don't care for Muzzy.I have shot Spitfire for the last 4 years.I have good luck with them.This year I'm going up north and I'm afraid the Spitfire will not have enough penetration on the bigger deer.I was looking at the G5 Montec.Any feedback will help.Thanks.

Which Spitfire are you using? The Wal-mart style with an o-ring sucks IMO. But the XP Pros work great.

Slick Trick....not only do they fly great, they penetrate great as well. They also leave a hell of a blood trail. Last deer I shot only went 10 yards and was spewing blood like a geyser.

Dan I use the NAP.No O-ring.I had was thinking about the Pro Series.

Shed Master, I got excellent penetration out of my Montecs last year. I shot a couple of does with them and they were great. I shot the 100 grain. They do have a small cutting diameter, as long as you hit where you should blood-trailing isn't an issue.
I love the 1 piece solid construction and their ease of sharpening.
They came out with the CS model this year (carbon steel) that is supposed to be even stronger.
Then again, I've never gone wrong with 100 grain Thunderheads. I killed a 240 lb buck in IL with on eand he ran less than 40 yards.
Whatever you do on those larger deer, please use a fixed blade.

Thanks Matt and PSE.Did you have to adjust your sights with the Montec or do they shot like your field points?

Shoot Montecs too - great head and no adjustments for me either.

A buddy of mine killed two nice IL deer on those XP's.....pass through and great bloodtrail. Use what you think gives the best confidence.
