Anyone hunting Kentucky WMA this year, if so which one do you prefer?

i leased land up there this year... last year i hunted peabody.....had great success.... i heard tho since the ice storm hit western KY that the woods are a mess

Going to try a new WMA the first week of september and if that doesn't work going back to ol' faithful. Somehow i just can't remember the names of them! And, yeah, I have been up twice since the ice storms and it kinda resembles hurricane damage.

I am planning on going sometime in sept. I have never hunted ky. I am looking at peabody, LBL, and sloughs WMA. But I have still not decided.

Will you be going up a weekend to scout prior to hunting?
Will you just go and hunt on same scouting trip?
When would be the best time to go for bowhunting?
I have never been up there, but looking into it. Need some more info from those who have been. Where to go, how many hunters to expect, lodging, camping.....?
You know, all the fun stuff.

Heading to Ballard WMA on tuesday. We'll be there until sunday. Hopefully we can arrow a couple of good ones. There is 5 of us going.

Good luck, But scouting where the big boys feed in the fields in and out will give you your best chance at giant a couple of days and then hunt that spot. Some still have velvet on. They still bed close their feeding area now, until the acrons fall or harvest is over. that s my ten year experience hunting Kentucky.

Yes, Ballard is primarily a waterfowl refuge and is only open to bowhunting until October 14. I usually scout and hunt on the same trip but I did go in February and also during turkey season. If you want to hunt the rut, go in November, 1st couple weeks. If you go then, you will still think you are in Alabama because we will all be up there with you. The public areas are EXTREMELY crowded at this time.
