I was wondering on average how many times the average bow hunter just misses the deer, and do they ever TELL ANYBODY that they missed and keep it to themselves. I normall miss one every two seasons. I do tell when I miss.

I missed one time in 7 years thanks to a limb the size of your pickie. Yes it was on a great buck at that.

Funny how this question doesn't get much traffic! I've missed some. Not very often though.

Killed six deer before I ever missed,boy did I have the big head until then.Missed a couple times since then.

I've missed twice in the last two years, both does. The first time because she jumped the string and I didn't aim low. The second time because my bottom limb hit my climbing stand when I released. That really pissed me off!!

I haven't missed in a while (with a bow)anyway. I shot at a doe 5 times two years ago with my rifle and found out the scope had been knocked off somehow, but that's another story. I missed pretty regularly in my early bowhunting career. I used to shoot fixed pin sights, and I could stand at a set distance and stack a half dozen in a spot as big as a quarter. Then I would get in a deer stand and miss a 100 lb deer. I found out I had poor depth perception and cannot accurately judge distance up a tree. I bought a pendulum and haven't missed many since. I also attribute that to being very picky about what shot I take.

The first time I ever climbed up a tree while bow hunting, I had shot all my arrows by 7:30. I had to climb down and retrieve them. By 8:30 I had shot two more times and hadn't even come close to hitting one. I can't begin to tell you how many I missed that season.

Sounds about right.

I would rather think of it as the deer's effective use of terrain masking, use of counter-measures, and spacial manuvering allowed it to avoid my technologically superior weapons systems capabilities...AF Fly Boys don't miss!
Besides...I shoot a Mathews...No worries!

I've missed 3 in 10 years of bowhuntin, one was a very nice tall tine 8 pt. Got over excited and shot over his back from 25 yards elevated.

Usually when the Rob's arrow misses what he's shootin' at, it's a miss.

im right the oposite..i shot at bout 5 or 6 before i finally hit one and i havent missed since...now with a gun, for the most part.. if i can see em i can kill em

Also haven't had the opportunity to actually take a shot at one yet either.

Picked up my first bow last September. Hunted A LOT on the family parcel during bow season last year and didn't see squat.

The foam animals aren't as lucky. Really loving the 3-D stuff.

Who knows, maybe this year I'll get my first bow kill.

Not often at all. Maybe once every 2 or 3 years.

every now and then... last miss was 2 yrs ago on a coyote at 15 yds... still not sure why

I usually miss at least once a season. It always happens when I rush the shot and Ive got alot better at not doing that over the last 5 seasons. I hate to admit it, but 6 years ago, I missed a doe twice while hunting over white oak acorns. She wasnt so lucky on the third shot however when I finally settled down and drilled both lungs.

By miss do you mean miss the deer completely? Or does shooting, wounding or even grazing, and not recovering a deer qualify as a miss. I hardly ever completely miss the entire deer but I have made some less-than-perfect shots over the years that have resulted, unfortunately, in not recovering the deer.

Wow. It is getting deep in here. I typically miss at least once a year. When bow hunting I'm meat hunting. I let the arrows fly early and often.

I have had one shot on a deer and hit her dead in the heart and that is the last one thats been in bow range
