I would buy the Fieldcraft if I wanted the highest possibility of great accuracy in a lighter gun. Nosler, if I wanted a heavier gun. Both LAW and MRC make and have made some great guns. Both are on the heavy side and both have had some reported issues with both accuracy and CS. Same for Kimber but worse.

They look like nice rifles, couple of the models use AG composites stocks out of Huntsville like the Barrett Fieldcraft but goodness they're proud of them, $1,700-1,900 is more than I'm willing to spend.

With my water leak woes, I'm leaning towards holding off(probably best idea regardless) or going with a Kimber Hunter in either 270($645) or 280Ai($725)

If the 270 will get rid of the itch I’d look hard at the b14.

The .270 Win dreams about being a .280 Ackley. The .280 Ackley is hotter than the .270 WSM in most factory loads, and is far past the .270 Win.

Don't get me wrong, the .270 Win is a fine cartridge. It just ain't a .280 Ackley.

That’s a helluva good question and I think I may have just gotten an answer. I don’t think MRC is the problem at all. Looks like my buddy at the gun shop was ordering from a distributor or another shop because he’s not a licensed MRC dealer. According to text I just got from somebody in the know MRC will not ship factory direct to any shops unless they are in the MRC network.

There are no licensed MRC dealers in Alabama.

Reed's Sports / Northern Firearms is a master dealer, and they sell the MRC rifles on Gunbroker for really good prices.

I made up my mind on what I am going with. I purchased a Barrett Fieldcraft in 270Win.

The stock is made outside Huntsville by AG composites and the barreled action is made in Murfreesboro by Barrett. Supporting local manufacturing.
It should be a really nice rifle.
With regard to the scope, I am not too sure on that yet. A Nightforce SHV 3-10X42 looks like a good one but quite expensive.

A rifle made locally with "my name" on the side of the receiver, sure why not. A 130gr humming along at 130gr will serve me just fine.
