Does anyone have any personal experience with New Holland Tractors? I am in the market for a new 40HP 4x4 with loader. I looked at John Deere and wasn’t impressed especially where the loader controls are.
I am considering a New Holland Workmaster 40, any input? Looking at the specs this tractor is heavier than the comparable JD, lifts more on the 3 point hitch, and the loader

I'll second Kubota because I sell them, but I'm not in Molino.
I WOULD however seriously consider going to Atmore and buying a NH from Hendrix Tractor if that's the tractor I wanted.
A VERY good friend of mine and a fine Christian man worked for the people at the other NH dealer and he didn't have ANYTHING good to say about them.
If you only looked at the 3038E series Deere don't base all your opinion on those. They make a very nice tractor in their M and R series. They're just not priced like an E.

I think NH is as good as anything else. I like Kubota. I would also look at Case/IH if you don't wear JD green underwear which it appears you do not.
The biggest advantage to me of getting something without green paint on it..... is being able to get parts online through dealers and not having to physically go to a JD dealer to get a piece of plastic that's broke.
NH, Kubota and Case all have online parts ordering you can order about anything from places like Messick's. I have just about got to the point I won't purchase anything I can't buy parts for myself. I can't stand having to go through a dealer's parts counter for everything. I don't have time to go up there and play grab ass with them, it's always totally stupid, and 90% of the time they have to order whatever I need anyway. So being able to go there and get a part same day is really a moot point. They either have it or they don't. No different if it is Deere or NH or Case. If you have a dealer close by they have a parts counter and having something in stock is pure luck most of the time. I am not farming for a living so my tractor can be down a day or two. But that's why it is nice to have more than one tractor.
If you can't work on anything yourself get a JD and let the dealer do everything.
No government employees were harmed in the making of this mess.

I had an older TC40D. Had all kinds of problems with it. I recently bought a JD 5055E with the powrreverser transmission and love it, been a great tractor. Sounds like you don't really like JD and it's not really an option, but I'm curious what JD model you are comparing to the workmaster 40? I would be looking at a 5045E in that size range as it's a whole different tractor than the 3038E.

In the 40 hp market you better give Mahindra a long look. Several good reputable, long lasting dealers in AL. I promise it’ll outlift and outweigh any competitor.

X2 on the Mahindra. I bought a Model 4540 and it is a tough tractor. NO complaints so far and I have had it 2 years now.

X3 on the Mahindra in that size. I owned a 6030 cab tractor for 7 years and never had a single problem out of it with over a thousand hours, was considerably less than the Deere also at the time. I did go to JD this time as i got a larger HP tractor and Deere had the best deal at the time. And i don't know what goatkiller is talking about as far as online shopping, JD has one of the best online parts catalogs i have seen. I have had new holland and didn't like the AC in the cab so went to Massey and will never do that again, went to Mahindra and loved it and now i have a deere and haven't had any problems. I will never buy Kubota personally.

What I am trying to say is the reason Deere is so sucessful is... their dealer network. But that is a moot point when you can get parts online and fix things yourself.
If you need same day service which is what many would tout as a reason to get a Deere over another machine prepare to get good at playing grabass with Tri Green.

It doesn’t look like Mahindra is any cheaper than JD or Kubota these days. This is what I'm seeing too. How does their resale value stack up against JD and Kubota?

It doesn’t look like Mahindra is any cheaper than JD or Kubota these days. Correct, Mahindra was actually the highest price I got out of the big 4. Mahindra was $1200 higher than Kubota. I don’t like the Kubota because they have the same goofy loader controls that the Deere has. New Holland and John Deere are neck and neck price wise, but New Holland comes with more standard features, weighs more, and lifts more. I’ve been looking at the following makes/models: John Deere 3038E and 3043D Kubota L3901 New Holland Workmaster 40 Mahindra 2638

Get the one with the longest wheel base. Hydrostatic transmission is awesome. Compact tractors ride ruff. Get in the seat and drive them suckers.
