Thinking about getting some for the homestead to control ticks and snakes. Anybody got any experience keeping them? Thoughts? Who has some adults for sale?

No one will sneak up to your house without you knowing either. Of course they will also let you know when the wind blows, when your dog farts, and when the grass grows too. In other words, they are noisy creatures.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

We've gone though about a dozen this year and we just gave up on it. They're cool birds and eat the ticks, but cant keep the foxes off of them, even in the middle of our pasture surrounded by horses and donkeys.

They are next to impossible to hit with a car.

I have 11 of them. If I were you, id spend a few minutes at somebodys house that has them. It might not be for you. They make ALOT of noise. I was working on my truck one day in the yard and they were potracking all around me, just about drove me nuts, I had a splitting headache. Funny thing is, I kind of tuned them out somehow and they were driving me crazy but they did it so much for so long, I couldnt really hear them. Strange huh?

They do taste good. Kinda like a turkey with quail afternotes. Cool birds loud but cool.
Support our country. Kill chickens.

When I was a kid I went to a second Sunday flea market down in Mississippi and begged my mom to let me bring some guinea fowl home. They lasted about 2 days. Sumbitches never shut their mouth at any hour. We wondered when they slept? They eat good, however.

Ours roosted on the front porch but they only lasted a week or two. The wife said never again.
Would walk over a naked woman to get to a gobblin turkey!
