Everyone references Gus' lack of qb development.I will agree that that he can't develop one.And his high-school offense lacks toughness and maturity.I'll have to agree on that too.But I think his main problem has always been recruiting and developing along the offensive line, and he doesn't have an answer for that.Production on offense will live and die with your offensive line,no matter your scheme, philosophy,or skill-player talent.Gus can't recruit talent at the offensive line positions, and has yet to have a offensive line coach that can develop what he has had... I think you are exactly right. If you are limited on talent, it's obviously going to limit the playbook. The offensive line for AU is a weak point. I saw several times where Nix was throwing off his back foot and the defensive pressure was affecting his timing. On the other side, Florida has a very talented group of receivers that were difficult to cover.

I thought Auburn’s O line was suppose to be the strong point of the team. Senior laden and with 900 combined starts. I know I read that on here around the same time I read how Nix was the second coming.
From my watching their games, I think it is a lack of talent, on the field and coaching. Nix is good, not great and is only starting because of who his dad is. None of the running backs are very good, the receivers are fast, but don’t have anything to catch, if they can catch. The o line is poorly coached. The d line is good. The rest of the defense is not good.

One thing AU offense is really suffering from is lack of a blocking fullback or H back like chandler cox or others before him. Midget ass running backs don’t help either. Or a coach without a phucking brain. Or....

Gus' three brain cells are going crazy, bouncing off his cranium walls, and that has done given him a championship caliber headache. Poor Gus. Hear that the Circus is hiring.

If I remember correctly the year that he beat ga and the roll taders and got the big contract extension, his o line was graded out as the best in college. This particular o line is athletically challenged and appears not to be able to run or pass block. One thing that is missing and has been for a couple of years is a rb like tre mason or artis Payne or kerryon Johnson that you can always count on to get at least three yards a carry and possibly break one.

It's not really Nix. It's that horseshit offense Gus runs. Nix would thrive under the right coach. I'm not sure about that. I haven't seen much from him to make me think he's even a decent passer. I think Nix has basically played for one coach his entire life...his dad. Outside of that system, he'll struggle. Maybe he can develop one day. I kinda doubt it. But if it happens under Gus, he'll be the first one to ever accomplish that feat.

We will finish the season 8-4, which unfortunately will probably get Gus another year. Next year, we lose the offensive line, which isn't a big loss because they suck, and the defense line, which is one of the best. We will suck next year and probably go 7-5 or 6-6, which hopefully will be the end of the dumpster fire that is Gustavo's career at Auburn.
Then we have to rebuild this chit hole he leaves behind...

How do you have 5 senior offensive lineman and your O line suck that bad? Gus NEVER has a fricking plan B. If plan A don’t work he jus keeps doing the same shucks. He shoulda threw to the running backs out of the backfield a bit and gave Nix some passes he could complete. Defense will keep us in some games but I hope Gus gets gone.

If this is their 5 best offensive linemen and they will all be gone, what does next year look like??

Anthony Schwartz, fastest man in college football (possibly) had only one touch. Find a way to get your play makers the ball. Lack of imagination with play calling is a big problem.

Here’s my $0.02. Keep in mind I’m a longtime AU fan.
Gus is the most narcissistic coach I’ve ever seen. He has ZERO ideas as to how and call plays based on the talent on the field. If ONE play doesn’t work he doesn’t abandon it like he should. Instead he will call that same play 5 more times because “he knows it will work”. When he gets in a position of losing he TOTALLY forgets he has other players on the sidelines. The guy is a straight up idiot. In 6 years he hasn’t learned that a smaller and faster o-line CANNOT compete in the SEC. and he considers himself a guru on “running” offense vs pass. AU doesn’t have a single running back that will be drafted (my opinion). He doesn’t utilize tight ends. He almost never calls a pass over the middle and anyone with just a little football knowledge can tell you what play they are running before the snap.
I haven’t been to a game in 2 years nor will I until he’s gone.

The most amazing part to me isn’t that Gus isn’t a great coach, but the fact that his monster buyout was agreed to, recently I might add. And when he does finally get fired, they’ll agree to the same, or worse, terms with another coach. Wash and repeat.

Cant blame Gus for taking what was offered.
