Any preferences or input on the slugs you've had luck with?

Rifled Barrell or just rifled choke? Had luck with Federal truball,and plain ol Winchester Fosters. Hornady works...if you can find them.

Get 3-4 different 5 pack brands and try.Yes it hurts but just like rifles each is a law into itself. I was shocked that winchester fosters outshot the Remington's but it paid off.

So yours did better with the non-sabot shells?

Always start with both 2 3/4" and 3" Remington Accutips for the best chance at good accuracy and lethality. These are the most forgiving sabot slugs across all guns by far. And be sure and tighten the barrel nut TIGHT with pliers in order to lessen/eliminate motion between the barrel and action, or else you could waste lots of money before you ever really get started. I have had good luck with the Remington accu tips in 12 and 20 ga 2 3/4

Let me clarify I had a choke not a barrel. The accutips were fine...just Winchesters were more plentiful. The 120 accutips outta the .260 has ruint more than ones day.

I have a bunch of 2 3/4 inch 20 gauge sabot slugs that I’ll make a deal on. My Savage 220 only groups 3 inch ammo. I bought $600 worth of slugs to figure that out

99% of rifled slug guns will shoot the Remington AccuTip like a laser beam. However, they are the least lethal slug I've ever shot, I absolutely despise them and hope Remington engineers catch the bullheaded clap for even making them.
The new Remington Barnes-Expander slug is bad@$$!!!!!! It shoots every bit as good as the AccuTips to me, but will mule-stomp a deer. It has become my new fave!!

I'm also extremely complimentary of the Winchester Partition Gold, but my current slug gun doesn't like them.

I've found that the 3" Federal trophy copper have shot the best out of my setup.

I really like the look of that slug, and my gun shot it "pretty good", but it was like every few shots was a flier. It was the weirdest thing....could shoot two or three and they'd pattern about "hand size" at 100 yards, then the next shot would be 6" high and 6" right. Shoot two or three more, hand sized pattern, then 6" low and 6" left. Of course that could just be me pulling my eye away from that slug gun too (but I use a Lead Sled)

I put a rifled slug barrel on my Mossberg 500 my dad gave me as a kid. Took it to Illinois the last year and killed the deer of a lifetime. That shotgun has now killed my first deer and my biggest deer. Hornady SSTs shoot well with my setup.

Scott my 500 is identical to yours with the same story. My daddy gave it to me when I turned fourteen. Unfortunately for me I’ve never hunted in Illinois or even come close to seeing a buck like that. Congratulations!

Good gosh what a deer!!!!!!!

Several of my buddies shoot those SSTs with great results, but no gun I've ever had will shoot them very well. I tried to shoot those newer "Superformance" slugs Hornady is making, and they were so bad I couldn't even keep it on paper. The SSTs would do similar to what I described about those Federals earlier, overall they were a small but loose pattern, then every few shots would be a wild flyer.

Took my 220 to the range yesterday and made two shots, holes touched completely dead center @100. I put it back in the case before I screwed it up

Once again I tell you those new Barnes Expanders are sweet!
