What is the best sign to be looking for this time of year.

Deer sign.

Where they are now in there summer patterns isnt gonna help much. I would check trees & find the area with the most acorns because thats where there gonna be come bow season.

Hard to say. Im far from an expert & im sure they will use alot of the same trails just not sure how much. When I go out this time of year im looking more at the lay of the land & looking for edges where thickets & open woods meet. Just kinda getting an idea of where to look later. As far as trails I would pay attention to where the best trails come out of the thickets & places like good creek crossings or other obsticals that would funnel them to a certain spot for easyer travel. Make mental notes of old rub-lines because they will normally pick right back up year after year. The land I hunt is normally so thick I spend alot of time looking for openings where I can get a 25 yard shot & hardwood patches hidden in the pine thickets.

You can't scout deer patterns (trails, feeding habits, etc..) this time of year since they will change by the time hunting season rolls around. Trail cameras and visual observation of deer can provide you insight as to how many and how big the deer are where you hunt. Most of the scouting I do in the summer is scouting for things like food sources, funnels, and good trees to hang treestands from. Of course, this time of year, I spend more time looking for ticks and snakes than I do anything when I'm in the woods. Looking at satellite and topo maps from the comfort of my air conditioned home is a preferred method of scouting this time of year as well.
