After five years of drought conditions, we had a wet winter with lots of rain and snow. As a result, the Oregon white oaks Quercus garryana have a bumper crop after five years of nothing. For the last five years, some corn piles would get you this: ![[Linked Image]](https://i.imgur.com/B8fMf50.jpg) Not any more--nothing on the corn but doves, band-tailed pigeons, squirrels and coons. And the season opens Saturday. I can only hope the acorns are gone before the season ends.

My property has a few oaks, but there are huge groves of them down in the valley where I can't hunt. I see deer bedding beneath the oaks so all they have to do is stand up and stroll a few feet to feed. In a situation like this, I plan to put the first legal buck I see in the freezer. Then my wife can hold out for the big boys on her tag.

Deer will step over corn to eat acorns here too...only prob is theys too many acorn trees here...really got put in boot time to find a hot spot but that's usually does...i just hunt close to buck beds in thick stuff outside bow season

My deer will abandon a feeder each fall when the acorns drop and each spring wher everything starts putting out again.

Definitely hunt the corn. Deer will utilize the feeders the same.

I've had corn germinate on the ground when there is a good supply of acorns. I’ve had that happen too. But low deer density area.

We would fill garbage bags full of white oak acorns from the trees on campus at Auburn. Had to do it late at night cause the campus po po would stop you if they caught you.

Used to catch guys from Mobile who had miracle pines on their place in Wilcox Co. that somehow grew Government St. acorns on them.
