Never been a huge fan of Jack Daniels but my dad turned me on to some Single Barrel Select this past weekend and it's not bad at all. Good enough that a picked up a couple of bottles while I was down there visiting.

I’ll be sure to pick some up.

Plenty of choices to make. I like a bunch of no name bourbons.

Not too Shabby. But i haven't had a drop of Whiskey or Bourbon in nearly 4 months 🤪

Single barrel is good for what it is. I still think it's overpriced, To be single barrels they sure are consistent.... If Im gonna drink Tennessee Whisk(e)y I reach for George Dickel #12

Tennessee Whiskey isn’t bourbon.

If you ever take the free tour of the Jack Daniels distillery that is one of the first things the Old timer tour guide let’s the group know that Tennessee whiskey ain’t Bourbon whiskey. After about 3 strong drinks from any of it it don’t matter what it is since you can’t taste it no more anyways. 😄

Bourbon is generic and only means it was made in the United States. Tennessee Whiskey means a bourbon made in Tennessee.

I thought Bourbon came from Bourbon County Kentucky, or the surrounding area.

Bourbon technically can be from anywhere, but it is strongly associated with Kentucky.

I bought a bottle at the JD distillery two years ago. I had our 25th anniversary date etched into it. Next year on August 25, any and everyone is invited over when I crack the seal.

No, bourbon isn't generic. It is by federal law whiskey that made for U.S. consumption and must be:

Produced in the United States
Made from a grain mixture that is at least 51% corn
Aged in new, charred oak containers
Distilled to no more than 160 (U.S.) proof (80% alcohol by volume)
Entered into the container for aging at no more than 125 proof.


Tennessee whiskey by state law is filtered through maple charcoal. That is what makes it sweeter than bourbon.

Not exactly , Bourbon by name , only comes from Kentucky . You can make it anywhere else but can't call it Bourbon , there is actually a law. When you take a tour of a distillery in Kentucky , that's the first fact they tell you.

2Dogs you are wrong. Bourbon is a generic term that only means it is made in the United States. The meaning of "generic" can be debated by doekiller like a good little lawyer.

Bourbon can be made anywhere in the US and be called bourbon.
